Link weighting is wherein the quality and relevancy of the source linking to you is considered. One measure of quality is the Google PageRank of a site. This is a number from 1-10 that Google assigns based on the popularity of the site. You can see page rank by using the Google Toolbar. The links from higher page rank sites linking to lower page rank sites carry more weight. Links from lower to higher carry less weight.
