How to Reconnect with People on Facebook you Unfollowed in Recent Months
Elections are over. Finally. You can now open up your Facebook social media walls completely rejoin your online network. But how can you reconnect in Facebook with people you might have disconnected with or unfollowed? This article will show you how to easily use Facebook’s web tools to do just that!
With all the online controversy and widespread opinions over the last several months concerning elections, it’s no wonder why your Facebook friends list might have thinned out. Choosing new elected officials can sometimes bring out the worst (or the best) in people in your virtual circle.
Just because Aunt Betty (who retired last year) decided to spend her every waking hour recently posting web site links about candidates or issues you weren’t particularly fond of, or you just couldn’t take the constant flooding of your social media walls with stuff you just didn’t care to see- doesn’t mean that you have to say goodbye to Aunt Betty forever.
We all know Betty. She makes the best pies, hand-makes all of her Christmas cards and has managed to keep your whole family connected. We love Aunt Betty, just maybe not during certain times, like being connected to her on Facebook during the US elections…
It’s not that Betty is a bad person, she just turns into a crazy person sometimes, so during the whole national ordeal, maybe you decided that you couldn’t take it anymore and unfollowed Aunt Betty, breaking your Facebook connection with her chaos and spending time reading posts on other people’s walls that were more enjoyable.
So what is this easy Facebook tool you can use to reconnect with those folks you unfollowed in recent months?
Here are some step-by-step instructions:
Reconnecting with Recent Unfollows in Facebook
Step 1: On your main page, on the left side, you should see a small icon picture of your profile. Underneath that, you have the option to edit your profile, but just below that, you should see a section that says ‘News Feed.’Click on the 3 dots to the right of News Feed. This is where you can change your news feed settings.
Select ‘Edit Preferences.’
Step 2: After you select ‘Edit Preferences,’ choose ‘Reconnect with people and groups you unfollowed.’ That section will expand and say, ‘You chose to stop seeing posts from these people and groups. Click to follow them again and see their posts in your News Feed.
Step 3: Here you can choose people, pages or groups you unfollowed that you want to reconnect with on facebook. Click on the ‘All’ dropdown to see your options. Choose friends only, Pages only or Groups only to see who you have unfollowed.
Step 4: Your final step is to choose who you want to refollow. Just click on the picture of who you want to follow, and you’ll see ‘Following’ in blue appear under their image. When you’re finished, click ‘Done.’
That’s it! You can now reconnect with people you unfollowed.
So if you’re feeling bad about Aunt Betty, don’t. You can fix it. The fact that you’re considering reconnecting in the first place is a positive thing!
